After ten years of work, most people have nothing to prove their employment beyond their own account. Paper disappears with management changes, file migrations and the retirement of the one clerk who kept everything in his head. The documents you keep today decide whether a claim is settled in a day or drags for months โ or dies entirely.
A permanent document keeps its value after you leave, transfer or retire: it proves your service length, your pay, or a right you earned. Daily receipts and weekly reports expire in usefulness within a fortnight and need no long-term storage. The test is one question: will I still need this in five years?
The method that works: photograph the page on your phone, convert it to PDF, and name the file with a clear date โ 2026-03-payslip, for example. Keep everything in one folder called Work, with subfolders by type. Clear names save you hours of searching years later, and PDF keeps the page from being edited by accident.
Three moments: applying for a new job that asks for proof of experience and service length, calculating your end-of-service benefit or an old leave settlement, and any dispute over hours or an allowance that was not paid. In all three, the paper in your hand ends the argument before it starts.
Shiftat-E does not store documents, but it holds the other half of the story: your shifts, your hours and your leave plan. Put the official paper next to your own record and you have a complete file โ the contract says what should happen, and Shiftat-E shows what you actually worked. The gap between the two is what you negotiate over.
Open the drawer, pull out your contract and the last three payslips, and photograph them. That is the whole task. The rest accumulates over time, but the start has to be today โ because the paper you did not photograph today may be missing tomorrow.
