End-of-Week Hours Checklist for Shift Workers

Shiftat-E Blog

A missing shift or a wrong start time does not hurt much on the day you make the mistake. It hurts at month-end, when the totals do not match and you cannot remember what happened three weeks ago. A weekly checkup fixes that.

In Kuwait, the weekend starts Thursday evening, which makes it the natural time to review. Before you switch off for Friday, open your log and check it while the week is still fresh.

Why Thursday Evening

Everything is still in your memory. Wait until the end of the month and you will guess whether Tuesday started at six or seven. Reviewing close to the event keeps your log accurate and your memory out of it.

It is also a quiet window. No shift pressure and no rush, so you can open the official roster and compare it calmly.

It is a good moment to flag overtime before it blends into the rest of the week. Half an hour a day becomes hours by month-end, and it is far easier to defend if you noted it early.

The Five-Minute Routine

The Mistakes That Pile Up

The two most common are a forgotten swap and a wrong start time. Night shifts make it worse, because a shift that starts after midnight is easy to log on the wrong date.

A third mistake is logging from memory the next day. There is a big gap between a day start and a night start, so guessing is not good enough. Write the exact times down when you clock in and out.

Do not leave updates for later. If you finish late, change the time while you are still at work. Fixing it in the moment takes seconds; fixing it two weeks later takes a memory you may no longer have.

Keep Month-End Easy

When you check every Thursday, month-end becomes a formality instead of a hunt for old notes. Log your shifts and your hours in Shiftat-E as you go, so you always know what you are owed and what you owe.

Use the same session to plan leave. Look at the coming weeks, find the days you want off, and put the request in early before the rota fills up.

Shiftat-E is in its launch phase and is evolving with user feedback. If the way shifts or hours are displayed can be clearer, that feedback goes straight to the team.
