A payslip is not a single number, it is a list of decisions about your month. Most shift workers glance at the net figure and move on. The gaps that cost money hide in the lines above it.
Names differ from one employer to the next, but the structure is usually the same:
Read every line against your contract once. After that, watch what changed.
Your work is countable, which is an advantage, so start there. Total the hours you worked, then total what the payslip paid for. Basic pay covers a standard monthly hours figure; anything above it should show as overtime or an extra shift line.
Check how the month was split. If the pay period closes before month end, your last shifts belong to the next slip and a short figure may be correct. Check the period dates before the arithmetic.
A log makes this a five-minute job. Shiftat-E lets you log shifts and hours and see your monthly total, so the comparison is between two lists instead of between a payslip and your memory. It is still early in its launch phase and growing with feedback from the people using it.
Many employers ask for a signature on receipt. That usually means you received the slip, not that you accept every figure, but questions are easier before you sign.
The usual ones repeat: overtime worked but never submitted, a shift differential applied to some nights and not others, annual leave entered as unpaid absence, or a public holiday shift paid at a normal rate. None of these are rare, and most are clerical rather than deliberate.
Sometimes the overtime of one month simply lands in the next slip, so a short month is followed by a fat one. Compare two payslips before you decide something is missing.
Rules on overtime rates, night pay and leave differ by employer and by contract, and Kuwait labour law has its own provisions, so check your contract and ask HR rather than relying on what a colleague says. When you write, keep it short and factual: the dates, the shift type, the hours, the figure paid, and the figure you expected. Attach your log. A message with numbers is answered faster than a complaint, and it leaves a record if the question needs to go further, to HR management or the relevant authority.
