Night shifts in Kuwait hit a little different. Outside, the heat drains you before you even start. Inside, the AC runs all night and quietly dries out your throat. Most night workers blame the schedule for their headache and dizziness when the real problem is simple: they are not drinking enough water.
Your body slows down at night and so does your sense of thirst. You are already dehydrated but you do not feel it. That is why you drink on a schedule, not on a feeling. By the time the headache or dizziness shows up, you are well past the first warning.
Caffeine works the same trick. Coffee, tea, and energy drinks feel great for the first hour, then pull more water out of you if you are not balancing them. You do not have to quit coffee. Just put a glass of water next to every cup.
Your work type matters too. On your feet, outside, or in a hot space, sweat leaves you fast and you do not notice because you are busy. In an office, strong AC pulls moisture out of the air and out of you. Both roads end in the same dry place.
Sodas and energy drinks are loaded with sugar. They give you fake energy, then drop you harder. Plain water is the honest option. If you want flavor, add lemon slices or mint. That is enough.
Coffee is not the enemy. Drinking it instead of water is. A cup early in the shift is fine. Just slow it down after the halfway mark so it does not wreck your sleep when you get home.
Low water means less blood flow and less focus. Headaches, dizziness, and blurry vision are all the same message. Drink more, take a short breather, and you will feel it lift fast.
If the headache follows you every single night, do not ignore it. See a doctor. This is everyday habit advice, not medical treatment.
The biggest mistake is drinking a liter in the last hour to catch up. You then sleep badly, wake up every little while for the bathroom, and feel worse than before. Front-load your water early in the shift and slow down near the end.
And if you record your shifts on Shiftat-E and look at your hours each week, you can see exactly where the pattern breaks. Everything gets easier once you are tracking it.
You do not need anything complicated. One bottle, one fixed time, and a bit of attention to your body. Try it for a week and watch your headaches, focus, and energy change.
Keep it simple so you actually repeat it. A bottle in plain sight means you drink without thinking. The small thing you do daily beats the big thing you do once.
